Gbenekama is a communications and public relations professional with 17 years of experience working mostly in local government. She is passionate about helping the next generation of leaders confidently journey to the next stage of their academic and professional lives. She has hands-on experience developing training workshops, producing and facilitating events and meetings, and advancing equity initiatives. Aside from her work, serving others is an important value to Gbenekama. In her spare time, she mentors African-American and Latinx college students and serves on the board of directors for the foundation that oversees the mentorship program. Gbenekama holds a master’s degree in journalism from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Studies in the African Diaspora (Independent Pattern of Study). She is certified in event and meeting management fundamentals by the Event Leadership Institute and also holds a certification in wedding officiating by American Marriage Ministries.
